Cette année, le prix coup de coeur a été remis à Mario Girard. Depuis son retour à titre de chroniqueur, il a su se positionner sur les enjeux des personnes LGBTQ+ de manière concrète dans plusieurs de ses articles. Il aborde différents sujets touchant de près ou de proche les réalités LGBTQ+ et, sans le vouloir, permet de sensibiliser le grand public à ces différentes réalités.

Cette année, un deuxième prix Coup de coeur a été remis au documentaire Le Dernier placard, Vieillir gai, une idée originale de Dany Turcotte.

Cette année, le prix Janette-Bertrand a été remis au complexe GrS Montréal. Nous avons voulu souligné le travail de ce complexe offrant des chirurgies d’affirmations de genre aux personnes trans et non binaires. Ce centre véhicule une culture basée sur un environnement
inclusif et respectueux. Les soins sont offerts dans un esprit d’accompagnement et de bienveillance. La confidentialité, l’écoute, l’ouverture d’esprit et l’empathie sont au coeur de vos priorités.
ACADEMIC HOMAGE AWARD
This year, the academic tribute prize was awarded to Michel Dorais. We wanted to highlight the work of a Quebec sociologist, a key specialist in gender and sexuality, and author of books that have become references around the world by providing essential insight into understanding the issues of the various LGBTQ+ communities.
COMMITMENT PRICE (NEW)
This year, the Commitment prize was awarded to Claude Guillet. We wanted to highlight the exemplary commitment of a governor of Fondation Émergence. Since the beginning of its existence, the Foundation has been able to count on the exceptional contribution of this person who, over the years, has played a fundamental role in carrying out our mission. A shadow artist, he produced and assisted in the production of all our annual campaigns between 2003 and 2019 for the International Day Against Homophobia and Transphobia as a graphic designer, photographer and mentor. In addition to creating the visuals for awareness and information material for all our programs, he also created the image of Fondation Émergence and gave it its professional character.

Special edition of the Laurent-McCutcheon Prize
LAURENT McCUTCHEON AWARD
This year, a second Laurent-McCutcheon Award was presented to White House Transportation Secretary Pete Buttigieg. By taking a stand in defense of LGBTQ+ rights in the United States, openly displaying his homosexuality in the 2020 United States presidential elections, and becoming the first openly gay person to serve in the cabinet of the President of the United States, Mr. Buttigieg is a model for LGBTQ+ people from here and elsewhere.

This year, the Laurent-McCutcheon Prize is awarded to actress and singer, Debbie Lynch-White, for her commitment and integrity, who affirmed her lesbianism from the very beginning of her career, and who provided positive media coverage. his private life and his romantic relationship to make them examples of openness and tolerance in order to make the general public aware of their reality.
COUP DE COEUR PRIZE
This year's coup de coeur award went to the Defense Team Pride Advisory Organization. We wanted to highlight the work of a group of volunteers who support more than 300 members of the LGBTQ+ communities within the Canadian Defense Team. Together, they have already carried out several structuring actions that have directly contributed to the well-being of these various communities by offering an environment of dignity and respect for all.
JANETTE BERTRAND AWARD
This year, the Janette-Bertrand prize was awarded to Me Alice Nkom. We wanted to highlight the work of a pioneer, the first woman to practice the profession of lawyer in Cameroon. Recognized throughout the world for her unwavering commitment to the defense of victims of police violence and discrimination, she also defends the rights of LGBTQ+ people in her country, where the criminalization of homosexuality has existed since 1972.

This year, the Laurent-McCutcheon Prize is awarded to singer Pierre Lapointe for all of his work in which he repels
the limits of the expression of gender identity and sexual orientation. Through the magic of his own words, Pierre Lapointe tackles
subjects such as sexuality and love between people of the same sex without artifice and with a lot of candor.

New this year, Fondation Émergence is awarding the Academic Tribute Prize for the first time,
rewarding a personality from the academic world who has distinguished himself during his career by contributing to the fight against homophobia and transphobia through teaching and research. This prize will be awarded to Ms. Line Chamberland, holder of the first and most important Research Chair in Homophobia and Transphobia in Canada.

Finally, the Coup de Coeur Prize is awarded to Ms. Alicia Kazobinka (by the singer Corneille), for her remarkable acts having had a direct impact on the fight against homophobia and transphobia over the past year.

This year, the Janette-Bertrand Prize, awarded to an allied personality who
has made a significant contribution to the fight against homophobia and transphobia, is awarded to Ms.
Maria Labrecque Duchesneau, CM, CQ by none other than Mrs. Janette-Bertrand herself. Recognized among other things for having founded Fierté agricole in 2008, Ms. Labrecque Duchesneau is known in the community as the guardian angel of the agricultural world.

A journalist at Radio Canada, Mr. Cormier received the Prix Coup de Coeur from the Fondation Émergence for having publicly mentioned his homosexuality during a television interview and for having managed its impact.

Monique Giroux
2015
Host at Radio-Canada, designer and producer, Monique Giroux was one of the first female public figures to publicly affirm her homosexuality, in 2006. She also became the first female spokesperson for Gai Listening and the Fondation Émergence, in 2007. Ms. Giroux showed the importance she attaches to the fight against homophobia by hosting the presentation of the Fight Against Homophobia award in 2009, 2010 and 2013. She is also the instigator of the visit to Montreal of the exhibition Les couples imaginaires by French photographer Olivier Ciappa and acts as the spokesperson for this event.
Michel Marc Bouchard
2014
Made an Officer of the Order of Canada in 2005, then a Knight of the National Order of Quebec in 2012, Mr. Bouchard has made a remarkable contribution to Quebec and Canadian dramaturgy. As early as the 1980s, Michel Marc Bouchard skilfully presented the experiences of lesbian, gay, bisexual and trans (LGBTQ+) characters in La contre-nature by Chrysippe Tanguay and Les Feluettes, thus helping to raise public awareness of LGBTQ+ realities. We also owe Mr. Bouchard the plays Tom à la ferme (2011) and Christine, la reine-garçon (2012), which take a sensitive look at LGBT people and help break down prejudices.
Ariane Moffatt

Ariane Moffatt is an accomplished singer-songwriter. It still takes a lot of courage for a public figure to face the prejudices that are still present in our society. By talking about her sexual orientation with the Quebec public and by sharing her plan to start a family with her spouse, Ariane Moffatt has shown authenticity. She has shown that homosexual orientation is not an obstacle to success and has thus become a model for homosexual youth and for gays and lesbians who aspire to start a family. The choice of Ariane Moffatt was unanimous on the Board of Directors of Fondation Émergence, because her notoriety and her credibility have clearly contributed to the fight against homophobia.
Fabienne Larouche

Fabienne Larouche is a playwright who has written numerous television series in Quebec. In a particularly skilful way, Fabienne Larouche has been able to integrate homosexual realities into her work, by depicting lesbian women and gay men in their daily lives, as is the case in real life. If Quebec society is one of the most progressive in the world with regard to sexual orientation, it owes this in large part to the influence of its television and more particularly to its soap operas and its television series which have presented gay characters. and lesbians in a normal, positive and non-judgmental way, thereby educating and raising awareness.
Xavier Dolan

Xavier Dolan is a young Quebec filmmaker who directed the films I killed my mother et_cc781905-5cde-3194-bb3b-136bad5cf193-bb58d_Les Amours imaginaire 136bad5cf58d_for which he has won numerous awards at home and abroad. His films are not " homosexual films ", but rather films where homosexuality is simply a part of life. His cinematographic work has contributed to reducing homophobia. Through his determination, his courage and his international success, Xavier Dolan inspires new generations and traces the way for them to respect differences.
Michael Tremblay

Michel Tremblay, Quebec playwright and novelist, was one of the first Quebec personalities to publicly reveal his homosexual orientation, which required a certain courage at the time. The choice of Michel Tremblay as recipient is not unrelated to his work where homosexual characters occupy an important place. His work, recognized worldwide, and his personal contribution have contributed to raising awareness and educating the population.

By publicly revealing his sexual orientation, the jester from the program Tout le monde en parle has won the respect of the entire population of Quebec. On the occasion of the thirtieth anniversary of the inclusion of sexual orientation as a prohibited ground of discrimination in the Quebec Charter of Human Rights and Freedoms, Fondation Émergence highlights the courage and faith in the equal rights of the person shown by Mr. Marc-André Bedard, Minister of Justice of Quebec from 1976 to 1984, and responsible for this addition to the Charter.

The Right Honorable Pierre Elliott Trudeau
2005
By posthumously awarding the Fight Against Homophobia Prize to Pierre Elliott Trudeau, Fondation Émergence wanted to highlight the exceptional contribution of this politician to the advancement of the rights of homosexuals in Canada. We will remember two great moments in history that were decisive in the evolution of the rights of gays and lesbians: in 1969, the removal from the Canadian Criminal Code of the provisions criminalizing sexual relations between people of the same sex and , in 1982, the inclusion of a Canadian Charter of Rights and Freedoms in the Canadian Constitution upon patriation. His son Alexandre came to collect the prize.

The Fight Against Homophobia 2004 prize was awarded to Father Raymond Gravel. Fondation Émergence pays tribute to Abbé Gravel for his courage and above all for the hope that his message of inclusion and acceptance for homosexuals entails.
